Melexis Triaxis 3D µPower Magnetometer IC
Absolute measuring three-dimensional micro-power position sensor with Melexis Triaxis technology and IMC disk (Integrated Magnetic Concentrator) based on the Hall effect for cost-effective battery-powered applications such as the contactless position determination of a magnet for joystick, linear, rotary, on- or off-axis applications in gaming and industrial peripherals. The magnetic range (±5mT or ±50mT), the integrated digital filters and the basic configuration (low current, low noise, high range) can be configured in the NVRAM by a microcontroller via the integrated I2C interface. In addition, the sensor has wake-up modes that allow the system to go into deep sleep until the sensor detects a change in the magnetic field on the selected axes compared to either a measurement (Static Delta), a previous measurement (Dynamic Delta) or a predefined absolute threshold value (Absolute). In this way, both moving and slowly drifting magnetic fields can be registered while the sensor automatically switches between active and sleep mode. The small UTDFN-6 housing and low power consumption (0.7μA power-down) enable a wide range of applications. A simple axial or diametrical magnet is all that is needed for operation.
